With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jerry S. Chitty of West Columbia, South Carolina, born in Olar, South Carolina, who passed away on July 7, 2020 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Morton Chitty and Cornelia Sanders Chitty. He is survived by: his wife Betsy Meares Chitty; his children, Michael Scott Chitty (Rebecca) of West Columbia and Liz Chitty Castles (Trey) of West Columbia; and his grandsons, Tradd Castles, Sanders Castles, Sullivan Castles and Lucas Castles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Brookland Cayce High School Education Foundation, to the Jerry S. Chitty Scholarship at Newberry College, or to Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.

I was graduate in the class of 1979, the first year we turned our tassels, we were still disobedient up until the last day of school lol.
