We announce the death of John David Newell of West Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 63. John David will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Newell and Dianne Davies Newell; his son Phillip Pumphrey; and his grandparents, James, Charlotte Newell, Gilman and Eloise Davies.

He is survived by: his wife Kathaline Newell; his sons, Justin Newell and Anthony Newell; his grandchildren, Conner Pumphrey, Jaxon Pumphrey, Damon Pumphrey, Maddisyn Newell and Carleigh Parramore; his siblings, Mary Jane Streets (Ashley) and Paul Newell (Leisa); his close friends, Kenny Preleau, PJ Jones, Tammy, Richie Anslow, Michael, Stephanie Blake, Fred and Cindy Gowing; his pet Bo; and his caregivers, Jason, Wes and Eric. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
