It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Eugene Hughes (West Columbia, South Carolina), who passed away on November 24, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Clarence Auburn Hughes and Eleanor Shealy Hughes; his former life partner Elizabeth Hughes; his wife Carolyn Hughes; his daughters, Stephanie Boles and Suzanne Hughes; his grandsons, Michael Boles (Leah) and Matthew Boles; his great grandchild Huxlee Boles; his sister Robbie Lynch (Wayne); his nephews, Michael Lynch (Rachel), Joseph Hill, Kiley Triplett, Cole Lynch and Landon Triplett; and his niece Rebecca Triplett (Daniel).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Valerie Augustine wrote a sympathy message

“Wayne and I (Valerie) were so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We did not know this. He has been a good friend to Wayne throughout the years.. They went to BC High School and later Wayne saw Mike at the Shrine Circus and other events. The last time we saw Mike was on August 22 when we got to see him briefly at Shealy's. He was a good friend.”
