He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clifton and Rosa Lee Chavis; his wife Lillie E. Chavis; and his sons, Morris Chavis Jr. and Horace Chavis.
He is survived by: his children, Doris (John Wyatt) of West Columbia, Dorothy (Wayne Rouse) of West Columbia and John (Donna Chavis) of Gaston; his grandchildren, John Jr. (Cori Wyatt) of Gaston, Sherry Wyatt of West Columbia, Terry (Matt Harding) of West Columbia, Crystal (Doug Berley) of Little Mountain and Rickey Jacobs Jr. of Lugoff; his great grandchildren, Tyler Wyatt, Austin Hankins, Meagan Berley and Dillon Harding; and his siblings, Raymond, Pansy and Normalee.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - West Columbia Chapel (820 W Dunbar Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
