She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Martin Anderson and Opal Marie Martin Anderson; her husband Gerald Andrew Markel; her son Gary Edward Markel; her grandson Brian Andrew Markel; and her siblings, Charlie, Hartley, Phyllis and Ingrid.

She is survived by: her children, Geraldine Halloran, Grace Denkins, Gregory Markel, Gordon Markel, Glen Markel and Gretchen Szeszulski; her siblings, Owen Anderson and Christine Anderson Hildebrant; and her caregiver Melinda Matheson. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 5:00 PM.
