He was predeceased by : his parents, Nen Certain and Ruby Loudermilk Certain; and his siblings, Sonny Certain, Roy Smith, Edna Morton, Frances Logan, Arrie Barnes and Mildred O'Shield.

He is survived by : his girlfriend Martha Freeman; his sons, Jimmy Dwayne Certain (Susan) of Seneca, Robert Allen Certain (Diane) of Walhalla and William Allen Certain (Rebecca) of Fair Play; and his brother Jake Certain of Walhalla. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild.
