He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Arnell and Marie Cobb Pickens; and his pet Poco Pickens. He is survived by : his wife Barbara Barnes Pickens; his sister Evelyn Pickens Sluder (Melvin) of Westminster; his niece Lauren Morgan (Scotty) of Westminster; his nephews, Alex Morgan (Michaela) and Baylor Morgan; and his pets, Natty Pickens and Poncho Pickens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Allen's memory can be made to Oconee Memorial Hospital Foundation, Hospice of The Foothills and Cancer Institute of Seneca, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.

“Allen was a good friendly neighbor. Always a wave and a smile. Enjoyed the over the fence chats during our summers at the lake. He must hold the record for mowing his property on Lake Hartwell. He was consistently on his lawn mower all summer. Betty and I will miss him during our summers at the lake. Bud and Betty Rich”
