He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvin Dantzler Gunter and Ruth Albert Gunter; and his brother Sam L. Gunter. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jim Wilkes; his grandchildren, Emily Boulware Baccomo (Jason) and James Robert "Bubba" Boulware (Tara); his great grandchildren, Jayson, Benjamin Baccomo and Ava Grace Boulware; and his sisters, Carol G. Hall (Frank), Joyce G. McLean (Cecil) and Mary Ann Gunter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Don's memory to a charity of one's choice.
