He was predeceased by: his parents, William Angle Matthews and Fean Barfield Matthews; and his siblings, Junior Matthews and Ollie Cooke. He is survived by: his children, Edward Matthews (Scott) of Smyrna, GA, Amy Ponds (Shane) of Chesnee and Janet Simmons of Duncan; and his siblings, H. R. Matthews (Brenda) of Pamplico, Karen Cox (Gene) of Montgomery, AL and Margaret Baker of Florida.
