He was predeceased by: his parents, James Milton Mahaffey Sr. and Fannie Green Mahaffey; and his siblings, Joyce Vaughn Brooks and Billy Mahaffey. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Diane Hellams Mahaffey; his son James M. Mahaffey III (LeAnna) of Spartanburg; and his stepchildren, Michael Waddell (Rhonda) of Woodruff, David Waddell of Woodruff and Tonya Waddell of Woodruff.
A graveside service was held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
