He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold "Stub" Hammer and Lorraine "Sis" Hammer (Cassatt); his in-laws, Nathaniel and Helen Rodlund (Thomas); his brothers-in-law, Daryl Borchard, Richard "Elvis" Rodlund, Duane Rodlund and Tommy Rodlund; his stepbrother Henry F. Illis; and his uncle Elmer Cassatt.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Hammer of Aberdeen; his children, Rhonda Griffith of Aberdeen, Roxane Beardemphl (Korey) of Ashton, Renee Nordmeyer of Brookings and Robbin Sieler (Mark) of Aberdeen; his grandchildren, Taylor, Torey, Garett, Bay, Sydney, Matt, Marina, Seattra and Tafyra; his great grandchildren, Madison, Silven, Rhiannon, Rorey, Asher and Orion; his sisters, Yvonne "Bon" Borchard and Doreen Weideman (Duane); and his in-laws, Jim Rodlund (Jennie) and Kathleen Gatz (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Schriver's Memorial Chapel (414 5th Ave NW, Aberdeen, SD 57401). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
