He is survived by: his wife Nancy Vander Hoek of Aberdeen, SD; his sons, David Vander Hoek of Aberdeen, SD, Patrick Vander Hoek of Aberdeen, SD and Alex Vander Hoek of Rapid City, SD; his grandson Samuel Lorenz; and his siblings, Jeanne Zahn of Scottsdale, AZ and Bob Vander Hoek (Vickie) of Aberdeen, SD..

A prayer was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM at the Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory (414 5th Ave NW, Aberdeen, SD 57401). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (409 3rd Ave SE, Aberdeen, SD 57401). A burial was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery (25 Smith St, Aberdeen, SD 57401).
