Lars Herseth Obituary

It is with sadness that the passing of Lars Herseth (Aberdeen, South Dakota) is shared. Lars, born on June 16, 1946, passed away on September 12, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorna B. Herseth and Governor Ralph Herseth of South Dakota. He is survived by: his wife Diane Friedman Herseth; his children, Todd Herseth, Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (Max) and Matthew Anderson; his grandchildren, Addison Anderson, Ayson Anderson and Zachary Lars Sandlin; his sisters, Karen Herseth Wee (David) and Connie Jacobs (Jerome); his cousin Marc Herseth; and his nieces and nephews, Mari, Allix, Calli, Rebecca and Jonathan.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson Fine Arts Center, Northern State University.
