He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Kiewel and Darlene Kiewel; his brother Robert D. Kiewel; and his in-laws, Ruth and Lowell Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Rozann Kiewel of Alcester, SD; his children, Thad Kiewel (Reese) of Derby, KS, Kari Hemmelrick (Troy) of Akron, IA and Traci Schurdevin (Chris) of Akron, IA; his grandchildren, Renae, Madison, Levi, Victoria, Mersadie, Lane, Maverick and Briah; and his great grandchildren, Jace and Addison.

Memorials may be given to the family to be shared with causes close to Steve's heart at 48149 307th Street, Alcester, SD 57001.
