She was predeceased by: her parents, James McDonald and Ruth McDonald (Taylor); her husband John "Johnny" Thompson Jr.; her children, Terry Thompson and Debby Leichtnam; her siblings, James Darrold McDonald, Donald "Mack" McDonald and Doris Herrig (Walt); her grandson Johnny Amundson; and her sons-in-law, Stan Gordon and John Amundson.

She is survived by: her children, Sandra Gordon of Armour, Patsy Amundson of Sloan, Iowa and James Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona; and her grandchildren, Nick, Melisa, Jason, Michelle, Denise, Joshua, Jennifer, Marjorie, Tammy and Stacey. She is also survived by her 14 great-grandchildren; and her 4 great-great grandchildren.
