He was predeceased by: his parents, Erwin Knodel and Lea Knodel (Hochhalter); his sister Virginia Peiman; his son-in-law Kelly Schrader; and his brother-in-law Floyd Pesicka.
He is survived by: his wife Jean of Armour; his children, Bonnie Griggs of Yankton, Dana Knodel of Mokena, IL, Jay Knodel of Klamath Falls, OR and Barbara Schrader of Harrisburg, SD; his sister Shirley Dale of Ft. Worth, TX; and his pets, Chico and Molly.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Redeemer Lutheran Church (403 3rd St, Armour, SD 57313). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (39229 28th St., Armour, South Dakota). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (1009 Jackson St, Yankton, SD 57078).
