He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Nitz and Berdina Nitz (Mantifel). He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Michael (Jody) of Sioux Falls, Matthew of St. Joseph, MN and Melissa (Mike) of Brandon, SD; his grandchildren, Kaija, Kjersti (Mitch), Eli, Caleb and Ava; and his brother Donald of St. Cloud, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Heritage Lutheran Church (117 Sandstone Ave, Brandon, SD 57005). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the South Dakota Veteran's Cemetery (25965 477th Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Heritage Lutheran Church in Brandon.
