He was predeceased by: his parents, Hank Rist and Oney Rist; his brother Curtis Rist; and his siblings-in-law, Virgina Rist and James Carlson.
He is survived by: his sons, Kenneth (Bridget) of Brandon, SD and Matthew (Michelle) of Riverton, NJ; and his sister Glenda Carlson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The military honors was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery (25965 477th Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104).
