He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Roekel and Martha Van Roekel (Van Wyk); and his sister Viola Uithoven. He is survived by: his wife Jennie Van Eck (Van Eck); his children, Barb Schuster (Tom) of Valley Springs, SD and Bob Van Roekel (Merry) of Valley Springs, SD; his brothers, Don Van Roekel (Verlys) of Surprise, AZ and Roger Van Roekel (Mary) of Beaver Creek, MN; his grandchildren, Tom Schuster (Sarah), Matt Schuster (Betsy), Josh Van Roekel (Erin) and Ann Varilek (Jake); and his great grandchildren, Tori (Tom), Maya, Ryker (Matt), Keegan, Alem (Josh), Jade and Asher (Ann).
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Community Reformed Church (7100 E 26th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57110). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be directed to Meals on Wheels or Owen's Outfitters.
