He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Severson and Lila G. Severson (Baker); his wife Diann Yelkin; his siblings, Fred Severson, Marie Nelson, Janice Carlson, Connie Daly and Linda Zimmerman; and his son-in-law Brad Bender.

He is survived by: his son Tim Severson (Peggy) of Black Hawk, SD; his grandchildren, Terra Horan (Ryan) and Ashley Brunmaier (Levi); his son Jeff Severson (Ana) of Kidder; his grandson Andrew Severson (Kristen); his daughter Becky Streier (John) of Eden, SD; his grandchildren, Ansel Streier (Amanda), Angie Gewerth (Adam), Nadine Polllman (Geoffrey), Natasha Schultz (Nathan) and Christine Caulfield (Cordell); his daughter Jane Bender of Britton; his grandsons, Zachary Bender and Gage Bender; his sisters, Mildred Lamoureaux (Dean) and Ruth Zimmerman; and his siblings-in-law, Doris Severson and Norman Zimmerman. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
