He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Peterson and Agnes Peterson (Hegg); his son Steve Peterson; his wife Barbara Lovejoy; his in-laws, Bill and Louise Lovejoy; and his sister Lucille Lenards (Peterson).
He is survived by: his daughters, Marty Koistinen (Kevin) and Michelle Milton (Randy); his grandchildren, Jamison Peterson (Megan), Dr. Brendan Koistinen (Whitney), Marisa Foster (Mitch), Alyssa Koistinen and Ally Milton (Michael Brennan); his great grandchildren, Cora, Callen, Fitz, Kepler and Lou; his brother Arvid Peterson (Kay); and his siblings-in-law, Becky Bleeker (Robin) and Tom Lenards. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Rude's Funeral Home (105 W 8th St S, Brookings, SD 57006). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church (337 8th St, Brookings, SD 57006).
