He is survived by: his wife Penny Lee McLagan; his daughter Shelly Jensen (Randy); his grandchildren, Bailie and Cody; his daughter Tammi Schleicher (Darin); his grandchildren, Ally and Emily; his son Rob Bortnem (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Addy and Ava; his brothers, Keith Bortnem (Debbie) and Gordie Bortnem (Sharon); his brother-in-law Randy McLagan (Teresa); and his pet Charlie. He is also survived by his family and animals.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rude's Funeral Home (105 W 8th St S, Brookings, SD 57006). A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Lutheran Church (337 8th St, Brookings, SD 57006).
