Mark Wayne Porter Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mark Wayne Porter of Brookings, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 4, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Patty Jean Kohler; his parents, Bill Porter of Porter's Bait Farm and Pat Porter; his stepmother Irene Porter; his cousins, Ken Porter and Kevin Porter; and his brother-in-law Bruce Kohler.
He is survived by: his son Adam Porter (Amy); his grandsons, Marcus (Tori) and Bennett; his great grandchild Tommy; his sisters, Marsha Murphy (Tom), Merri Lee Grow (Weston) and Laurie Austin; and his sister-in-law Avis Kohler. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rude's Funeral Home (105 W 8th St S, Brookings, SD 57006). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Ascension Lutheran Church (2030 3rd St, Brookings, SD 57006).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Brookings Pheasants Forever Youth Hunt or Friends of Brookings Baseball.
