He was predeceased by: his parents, Gust Kurtz and Iva Kurtz (Kretsinger); and his siblings, Norris, Ervin, Kenneth, Lawrence Kurtz, Mildred Sutton and Irene Baugh.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Kurtz of Sergeant Bluff, IA; his children, Nancy Bower (Ross) of Vivian, SD and Micheal Kurtz (Kristine) of Dakota Dunes, SD; his grandchildren, Austin Bower (Emily) of Vivian, SD, Jeff Kurtz of Sioux Falls, SD, Morgan Bower of Spearfish, SD, Megan Kurtz of Brookings, SD, Benjamin Kurtz of Sioux City, IA and Emily Kurtz of Vermillion, SD.; and his brother Harold Kurtz (Susan). He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren.
