He is survived by: his wife Marlys; his daughter-in-law Chris; his grandchildren-in-law, Dalton (Jenna), Tessa (Noah) and Ruby of Marne, IA; his son Brad; his grandchildren, Shad, Cade, Marika and Seth of Volga; his son Phil (Tara); his grandchildren, Kashsas, Mercedees, Reihdir and Porshia of Volga; his brother Edward Vander Wal (Gina); his nephews, Scott (Michelle), Kevin (Kari) and David (Melanie); his sister Loretta Kleinjan (Duane); his siblings' children, Linda Hightower, Darrel (Tracy) and Donna Bolstad (Mike); his sister Marcia Carver; and his siblings' children, Greg (Vicky), Nancy Colburn (Mark) and Tim (Kari).
Visitation was held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Reformed Church (601 E 1st St, Volga, SD 57071). A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
