Trudy Schmieding Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Trudy Schmieding (Brookings, South Dakota), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 26, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Julius Hoemann and Elisabeth Hoemann (Kamprath); her husband Orville Schmieding; her brother Willard Hoemann; and her siblings-in-law, Wilbert Schmieding, Arthur Schmieding, Irene Hoemann, Verna Richert, Dolores Schmidt and Norma Jean Schmieding.
She is survived by: her children, Greg Schmieding (Janet) of Sioux Falls, SD, Becky Schmieding of Brookings, SD and Teresa Szymanski (Steve) of Sauk Rapids, MN; her grandchildren, Jackie Graham (Jared), Rachel Vidales (Israel), Ryan (Lindsay), Matthew (Katie), Justin and Kaelyn Szymanski; her great grandchildren, Cooper, Nora, August, Thorson, Quincy, Lucy and Everett; and her sister-in-law Jan Schmieding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church and School or the SDSU Foundation for the Trudy and/or Orville Schmieding Scholarships in Nursing, Education, or Athletics, at South Dakota State University, or given online at http://www.sdstatefoundation.org. .
