With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald DeSmet (Canton, South Dakota), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 21, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald DeSmet and Emma DeSmet (Miller); his wife Barb; and his siblings, Leonard and Betty McNamara.
He is survived by: his daughters, Shery Hawley (Chad) of Canton and Becky Jeffers (Jason) of Canton; his granddaughters, Samantha, Savannah, Jamie and Adrianna; and his siblings, Mary Brinkman (Hank), Ruthie and Raymond (Kathy) of Surprise, AZ.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the St. Dominic Catholic Church (800 E Walnut St, Canton, SD 57013). A prayer will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
