With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Pauline Spaans (Corsica, South Dakota), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 24, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Adrian Staal and Edna Staal (VanderWaal); her husband Cornie; her sons-in-law, Gary Wolbrink and Dale Weerheim; her siblings, William Staal (Marie), Anna Blok (Bas), Casey Staal (Ginny) and Thelma Staal; and her siblings-in-law, Nellie Bouma (Pete), Herman Spaans (Clazina), John Spaans, Henry Spaans (Martina), Albert Spaans (Hermina), Dick Spaans (Mick), Jim Spaans, Adrian Spaans, Leonard Spaans (Elizabeth), Marvin Spaans, Andy Spaans (Doris) and Ben Spaans.
She is survived by: her children, Rich Spaans (Jan), Connie Wolbrink of Sioux Falls, Jim Spaans (Renee) of Mitchell, Arleen Weerheim of Madison, Nancy Hill (Vern) of Plankinton and Paul Spaans (Dawn) of Carver, MN; her friend Christy Hollebrandse; her in-laws, Joanne Spaans, Elizabeth Spaans (Betty), Cathy Spaans of Michigan, Betty Spaans of Corsica and Rosalie Spaans of Sioux Falls; Dena Dewald (Milo) of Michigan, Marty Staal (Connie) of Michigan, Al Staal (Mary) of Michigan and Hugo Staal of Michigan. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers to be directed to Netherlands Reformed Congregation or Netherlands Reformed School.
