He is survived by: his wife Shirley Flakus; his children, Justin Richter (Allisa), Steve Richter (Tami), Heather Richter (Saen) and Lindsay Richter; his grandchildren, McKenna, Treyson, Elaina, Lydia, William and Lexi; and his brother Chuck Richter (Jackie).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Skroch Funeral Chapel (214 N Main Ave, Colman, SD 57017). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Colman Lutheran Church (213 S Allen Ave, Colman, SD 57017).
