He was predeceased by: his parents, Elma Bass and Chester Bass; and his brother Leland. He is survived by: his wife Betty Bass (Wetrosky); his daughter Kimberly Deaver (Duane); his granddaughter Lydia; his son Ronald Bass (Lori); his grandchildren, Lindsay, Sam, Sara and Emily; his son William "Bill" Bass (Kelli); his granddaughters, Baylie and Grace; his son Austin Bass (Jennifer); his granddaughter Addy; and his brother Terry Bass (Vicki). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
