He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyril Pottebaum and Mary Ann Pottebaum (Berens); his sister Debbie Blatchford; his father-in-law Harold Christianson; his aunt Carol Harder; his uncle Mark Cripps; and his sister-in-law Karen Sundberg-Conaway.
He is survived by: his spouse Chris Pottebaum; his children, Cory Pottebaum (Lynne), Tabitha McCaslen (James) and Ben Pottebaum (Sara); his grandchildren, Henry, Ellen, Claire and Cole Pottebaum; his siblings, Jean Miller (Dennis) of South Sioux City, NE, Patty Hanson (Mike) of Sioux City, IA and Cindy Strong (Jim) of Westminster, CO; and his aunt Sandy Cripps of Sioux City, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106). A vigil service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (5010 Military Rd, Sioux City, IA 51103).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Siouxland Center for Active Generations.
