James Farrell Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Farrell of De Smet, South Dakota, who passed away on December 10, 2025 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Farrell and Helen Farrell; his wife Mary; and his sister Valerie. He is survived by: his children, Abigail, Max and Tamora German of Dunedin, FL; his grandchildren, Allyn and Shaelynn Martens (Larry); his daughter Tanya Groft of Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Koby, Kyler (Kortni) and Keanna (Kevin); his daughter Becky Stephens (Brook) of Watertown, SD; his grandsons, Lance, Bryce and Dylan (Faith); his child Rae Lynn Geiman (Lonnie) of De Smet, SD; his grandchildren, Alexa, Kristina and Kaleb Amundson; his daughter Roberta Elkins (Brien) of De Smet, SD; and his grandchildren, Kearra (Brandon), Koden (Harley) and Kendra.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church (301 3rd St SW, De Smet, SD 57231). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the De Smet Fire, Rescue, and Ambulance in Jim's memory.
