Rose Vargas Obituary

We announce the death of Rose Vargas of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, who passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 83. Rose will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clement Heiberger and Cecelia Heiberger (Weber); her granddaughter Mary Cecelia Vargas; her brother Mike Heiberger (Rosie); and her nephews, Todd Heiberger, Jimmy Heiberger and Ernesto Vargas.

She is survived by: her son Ivan Vargas (Jean) of Dell Rapids; her grandchildren, Owen, Lucy, Phoebe, Hazel and Milo; her great grandchild Minga Vargas of Sioux Falls; her siblings, Mickey Hops of Centralia, WA, Tony Heiberger (Ginny), Phil Heiberger (Joyce) of Hartford, SD, Marian Heiberger, Aggie Kelley (Rick Wyatt) of Cody, WY, Bill Heiberger (Georgia) of Anchorage, AK, Helen Zaleski (Randy) of Crystal Lake, IL and Dorothy Lynch (Jim) of Sanibel, FL; Anthony (Zoe) and Dominic. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kahler-Brende Funeral Home (107 W 4th St, Dell Rapids, SD 57022). A wake was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St Mary Catholic Church (608 E 8th St, Dell Rapids, SD 57022).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dell Rapids St. Mary Catholic School for tuition assistance in memory of Rose Vargas.
