He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Kurtenbach and Marie Kurtenbach (Puetz); and his parents-in-law, Leo and Gertrude Vanden Hoek. He is survived by: his wife Linda Vanden Hoek; his children, Heath Kurtenbach (Kerri) of Dimock, SD, Heather Meyer (Joe) of Slayton, MN, Rachelle Bosma (Noah) of Ocheyedan, IA, Ryan Kurtenbach of Sioux Falls, SD and Amanda Austerman (Ted) of Howard, SD; his grandchildren, Tate Meyer (Hannah), Kobi, Eliese, Libby, Teague, Emersyn, Luke, Halle, Jase, Callie, Kolt and Brady; his brothers, Dale (Mary), Vilas (Margo) and Darwin (Rose); and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Vanden Hoek, Paulette Veurink (Wayne) and Lori Wynja (Carl). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Prayer Service St. John Lutheran Church (39943 270th St, Dimock, SD 57331). A prayer will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church (39943 270th St, Dimock, SD 57331).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Twin Rivers Old Iron Association.
