He is survived by: his wife Judy Porter; his daughters, Laura Gabrielson (Johnny), Terri Lautt (Jon), Paula Schaack (Tim) and Jessica Van Eaton (Wyatt); his brothers, Bill Porter (Connie) and Tom Porter (Peggy); and his grandchildren, Cortney Jones (Chris), Jake Cadwell (Annie), Whitney Harper, Cooper Jensen (Taylor), Josh Barker (Koel), Avery Travnicek (Colt), Treg Schaack and Tres Schaack. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A vigil service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the St. James Catholic Church (310 3rd Ave, Edgemont, SD 57735). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
