He was predeceased by: his son William Reiff (Erica); and his siblings, Joyce and William "Bill". He is survived by: his siblings, Alva and Kenneth; his former spouse Rodney Reiff of Northfield, MN; his children, Roberta Reiff of Cannon Falls, MN., Krista Pophen (Matt) and Albert Reiff (Kristine); his former spouse Conrad Leighton; his children, Tiffany Giffey (Tom), Tabitha Kazaglis (Louis), Linnea Leighton (John) and Isaac Leighton; his spouse James Johnson of Roseville, MN; his sons, Oscar (Marisela Johnson), Donald (Sarah Johnson) and Zackory (Lillian Johnson); and his great grandchildren, Aanika, Astrid Reiff, Quinn, Logan Reiff, Graham, Gloria Giffey, Josie, Kate, Max Kazaglis, Gabe, Anna, Christina and Ronin Johnson. He is also survived by his wife, parents, grandparents, and his SD pioneer great-grandparents.

The last few years, as his health was failing and the pandemic hit, he decided on an extended visit with his youngest.
