With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mark Liester of Garretson, South Dakota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sr. Liester (Gertrude) and Gertrude Liester; his son Michael Liester; and his brothers, Jimmie Liester Jr. (Helen) and Bill Liester (Pam).
He is survived by: his wife LaVonne Karli; his children, Karl Liester (Jacki) of Garretson, SD, Kathy Lund (Doug) of New Ulm, MN, Sam Liester (Heidi Hoffmann) of Garretson, SD and Sally Hoogland (Jason) of Moorhead, MN; his grandchildren, Joshua Liester (Faith), Jacob Liester (McKenzie), Alex Lund (Madison), Zach Lund (Morgan Kerwin), Sophia Lund, Ellie Liester, Nicole Hoogland and Brooke Hoogland; and his sisters, Mary Ellen Sorenson (Arden) and Jean Wick (Bob). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A lifelong resident of the Garretson area, Mark moved to Touchmark Memory Care in February of 2024 due to the progression of Alzheimer's which affected him for more than nine years.
