He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Smith and Leona Smith (Stevens); his brothers, Wayne, Dean and Keith; and his great-nephews, Simon and Evan.
He is survived by: his children, Joshua (Allison) of Moorhead, Minnesota, Justin of West Fargo, Crystal Strensgard (Angel Mila) of Fargo and Marissa Stoterau (Bryce) of Garretson; his grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Arianna Smith, Grayson Smith, Brayden Crossley-Smith, Jeffrey Stensgard, Michelle Stensgard and Raelynn Smith; his sister Kathy Zent (Earl Killingsworth) of Epping; and his sister-in-law Meloni Barman of Bakersfield, California. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church (212 N Center Ave, Garretson, SD 57030). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Watch Zion Lutheran Church (212 N Center Ave, Garretson, SD 57030).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
