With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Norma M. Harer of Gettysburg, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 3, 2026 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Tellof Hockesson and Beulah Hockesson (Thompson); her husband Donald Harer; her siblings, Gerry Gunsalas, Peggy Permann, Mary Lou Moore and Deloris Hockesson; her daughter-in-law Janie Harer; and her grandson Charlie Harer.

She is survived by: her children, Randy Harer (Pat) of Gettysburg, Kathy Haar (Rory) of Watertown, Richard Harer (Brenda) of Woodland Hills, California, Kent Harer (Nilva) of Grapevine, Texas and David Harer (Nora) of Mantorville, Minnesota; and her sister-in-law Norma S. Harer. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Norma was very active in the American Cancer Society, where she served as a state director and received several national awards.
