He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Carter and Jean Carter (Letourneau); his grandparents, Eva Carter (Ledoux), Ronald and Reina Letourneau (Morrissette); his parents-in-law, Lorin and Violet Schekel (Hetterle); and his daughter Dawn Marie Carter.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Maria, Teresa, Will, Marcus and Kendall; his former wife Joanne Carter (Schekel) of Whitewood, SD; his daughter Bonnie Carter (Erik Valberg); his grandchild Bjorn Valberg of Cedar Rapids, IA; his children, Michelle Carter (Tim Lupfer) of Silver Bay, MN and Brian Carter (Allison Creed); his grandchild Kennedy Carter of Sturgis, SD; and his siblings, Cathy Gerrish (Ed) of Watertown, SD, Roger Carter (Shirley) of Watertown, SD, Diane Carter (Joe Richardson) of Ruston, LA, Andre Carter (Camilla) of Arlington, TX, Amy Merritt (Fred) of Aurora, CO, Christy Schaller (Carl) of Georgetown, TX, Denise Wilson (Tim) of McMinnville, OR, John Carter (Kelli) of Fort Collins, CO, Mary Peer (Zach) of Chicago, IL and Melanie Pfeil (Scott) of Sun Prairie, WI.
