James Hansen Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 5, 2023, at the age of 94, James Hansen of Gregory, South Dakota, born in Lead, South Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by : his parents, Harold J. Hansen and Lillian H. Hansen (Mattson); his wife Dora Helmer Hansen; and his brother Donald. He is survived by : his daughters, Linda Whitney (Steve) of Mitchell, SD, Diana Buseman (Leland) of Canistota, SD and June Hansen of Pierre, SD; his grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Foss (Steven) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kristi Marken of Aberdeen, SD, Corey Whitney (Nicole), Tammy Buseman (Amy Cameron) of Marion, IA, Robin Matthews (Neal) of Castalian Springs, TN, Stacey Hofer (Jared) of Mitchell, SD, Timothy Buseman (Heidi) of Canistota, SD and Megan Fredrickson (Seth) of Hartford, SD; his great grandchildren, Jadeyn, Jayse Foss, Katelyn Scheffert (Riley), Eilert Marken, Alyssa, Hannah Whitney, Josiah, Miriam Matthews, Lauren, Emma, Callie Hofer, Lily, Eli James Buseman, William and Tobias Fredrickson; and his aunt Evelyn Mattson. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing scholarships in Jim's memory at Black Hills State University and the University of South Dakota for students pursuing education degrees.
