He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Blackmun and Phyllis Blackmun (Schoch); and his brother-in-law Robert Sparks. He is survived by: his wife Mary Kay Schumacher of Mary's Catholic Church; his sons, Micheal, Mike Blackmun (Stacy) of Sioux Falls and Dave Blackmun (Marcy) of Groton; his grandchildren, Rachel Little (Austin), Korbin Blackmun, Logan Blackmun, Tyler Blackmun and Kaleb Blackmun; his great grandchild Weston David Little; and his sister Laurel Sparks of Fargo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A wake was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (803 N 1st St, Groton, SD 57445).
