He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Lewis, Palma Berg, Fred and Mary Hieb; his parents, Rinehart J Hieb and Thelma L. Hieb (Berg); his brothers, Steven Craig Hieb and Gregory Scott Hieb; and his former life partner Jamie Lee Ward.

He is survived by : his son Steven Zachary Hieb (Alyssa Aguon); his grandson Cian Zachary Erickson; his sister Sandra R. Plato (Rick); his nieces, Renee Plato Van Heerden and Sonya Plato; his girlfriend Cathy Allen of Henry, SD; his partner's daughter Mary Johnson (Basil); and his grandchildren, Zoe Schake (Nina Juanetta) of Fargo, ND and Carter Schake of Henry, SD..

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 1st 2024 at 2:00 PM at the West Nidaros Lutheran Church (25403 471st Ave, Crooks, SD 57020).
