We announce the death of Matthew Minor McCaskell (Hill City, South Dakota), who passed away on September 3, 2026, at the age of 37. Matthew will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Matthew’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mickelson Trail Lodge (12165 Ray Smith Dr, Hill City, SD 57745). During COVID, he came back up to the ranch to help his dad and to build a cabin of his own — Western Sky Cabin.
