Esther Gilchrist Obituary

We are sad to announce that on September 4, 2025, at the age of 96, Esther Gilchrist of Hitchcock, South Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Eckmann and Alice Eckmann (Meyer); her husband Warren Gilchrist; her grandchildren, Joshua Gilchrist and Stephanie Saunders; her great grandchild Dominic; and her sisters, Neva Hammer and Edna Reilly.

She is survived by: her children, Janie Person (John) of Watkins, Barbara Christwitz (Edwin) of Clearlake, California, Thomas Gilchrist (Sherry O'Connor) of Springfield and Jon Gilchrist (Sandra) of Bixby; her grandchildren, Daniel Person, David Person (Michelle) of Colorado, Susan Stingily (Karl) of Alabama, Dr. Dane Alexander Person of New Mexico and Rebekah Kindall (John) of Rapid City; and her brother Ervin Eckmann (Jean) of Huron.
