It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dirl Hane Steffe of Hot Springs, South Dakota, who passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Dirl Hane departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Dirl Hane may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Dirl Hane leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hilburn Steffe and Lucille Steffe (Hane); his wife Shirley Larsen; and his grandchildren, Angie O'Bryan and Myriah Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Dirlene Wheeler (Neil), Dirl Jr. (Vicki), Dianne Johnson (Webb) and Denise Atkinson (Bill).
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford United Methodist Church (238 Elm St, Crawford, NE 69339).
A memorial has been established for educational endeavors, along with an endowment at Chadron State College.
