Ruby Mae VanScharrel Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ruby Mae VanScharrel of Howard, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 22, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Eldon Noble (Jud) and Lillian Noble (Servold); her husband Elwood; her brother Merlyn Noble; and her sisters-in-law, Karen Timperley and Marlys Noble.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debra Gieselman (Gene) of Olathe, KS, Rhonda Reisch (Joe) of Sioux Falls, SD, Beckie Kaufmann (Dan) of Sioux Falls, SD, Teresa Poppen (Bob) of Howard, SD and Brenda Donahue (Bernard) of Fedora, SD.; her grandchildren, Lisa Mansfield (Brian), Kevin Gieselman (Tina), Angie Binfet (Joel), Travis Reisch (Janel), Jason Reisch (Molly McKibben), Ben Kaufmann (Molly), Brian Kaufmann, Kristen Mack (Daniel), Cody Poppen (McKenna Rudebusch), Katie Crisp (Josh), Karisa Polzen (Tyler), Alisha Neises (Bradyn), Miranda Bender (Jacob) and Evan Donahue (Sydney); her brother Dean Noble; and her brothers-in-law, Boyd VanScharrel (MarJean) and Ron Timperley (Barb). She is also survived by 28 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Beach United Methodist Church (205 N Pleasant St, Howard, SD 57349). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at the Graceland Cemetery's Section.
The Miner County Farm & Home Show and the annual 4-H pie auctions were places where Ruby enjoyed making pies to exhibit and donate. She chaired the Miner County American Cancer Society Relay for Life for many years.
