He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Gerdes and Marie Gerdes (Petersen); his daughter Jody; his brother Arden Gerdes; and his sister-in-law Jean Gerdes.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Hummel; and his siblings, Marlene Gross of Canton and Don Gerdes of Hurley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church-Hurley (501 Park Blvd, Hurley, SD 57036). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
