It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verda Sherard of Hurley, South Dakota, who passed away on September 20, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mike Klinghagen and Tillie Klinghagen of Lennox, SD; her husband Darrell; her sisters, Della Klinghagen and DeLilia Peterson; and her great grandchild Hazel Sherard.
She is survived by: her children, Randall Sherard (Gina) of Turlock, CA, Robb Sherard (Danielle) of Hurley and Raye Sherard (Joddie) of Hurley; her sister Marlene Hofer of Sioux Falls, SD; her grandchildren, Beth Hutcheson (Bobby) of Jefferson, SD, Aaron Sherard (Haylee) of Hurley, Ivy Jacobs (Anthony) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kinsey Taggart (Alex) of Gayville, SD and Cayman Sherard of Hurley; her great grandchildren, Loretta, Clara Sherard, Jessica, Daniel Jacobs, Ace, Adeline Taggart, Felicity Fennel and Breanna Hutcheson (Kolby Bocian); and her great great grandchild Harper Bocian. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Spring Valley Lutheran Church (44707 289th St, Viborg, SD 57070). A prayer was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
