Harry Merchen Jr. Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Harry Merchen Jr. of Kadoka, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 2, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Mark, Melvin Merchen and Ronnell Grotzke; and his siblings-in-law, Dean Gage and Carol Merchen.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Batie; his children, Melonie Medalen (Marc) of Rapid City, Terrie Barnes (Keith) of Harrold, Dawn Koch (Mark) of Custer, Steve Merchen (Sheri) of Rapid City and Tim Merchen (Tammi) of Norris; his siblings, Widd Merchen (Lana) of Oklahoma City, OK and Jeanine Gage of Sioux Falls; and his brother-in-law Vernon Grotzke of Kadoka. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the MDT Kadoka Bible Church. A prayer will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the Kadoka Bible Church. The military honors will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Norris Community Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the High School (606 Main St, Kadoka, SD 57543). A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 5:00 PM.
